Veolia Nederland acquires Recyfood

SCHIPHOL-RIJK, 6 March 2023 – On Monday 30 January 2023, Veolia Nederland acquired the processor of organic waste and residual products Recyfood. With the acquisition of Recyfood, Veolia further strengthens its position in the circular economy and expands its activities in the Netherlands within recycling into food and organic waste.

The acquisition of Recyfood accelerates Veolia’s service offering in the food sector. The transformation of organic waste streams into green energy through fermentation is in line with the sustainability objectives of the Veolia Group and contributes to the further reduction of waste streams. Recyfood ensures that substantial volumes of non-consumable food products no longer end up in landfills or incinerators but are reused in a useful way.

About Recyfood

Recyfood was founded seventy years ago in Hillegom and has is a food recycling company with branches in Hillegom and Putten. Recyfood specializes in processing and destroying both packaged and unpackaged food products that are no longer suitable for consumption. By mixing the food waste streams, they are made suitable for delivery to fermentation plants. Eventually resulting in biogas production, which is used as a replacement for e.g. natural gas.
